Susan has a BAVA from Newcastle University, majoring in sculpture, and has been a professional practicing artists since then. She has many years experience in teaching sculpture and painting at tertiary level, and vocational and recreational courses; and coordinating painting/sculpture workshops at conferences and art classes in her studio. She has won public sculpture commissions in Newcastle.

Since completing the Graduate Certificate of Artistic Therapies, Susan is working towards combining artistic therapies and counselling with her art practice.
